Only a few lucky people were able to edit in high definition so this is a privilege. You'll have to shop around but there is software out there that most can afford to edit material that you shot in high definition right on your computer.
Here comes not only high definition, but also the world of video entertainment that is quickly taking over the world. Television screens and modern video players for instance blu-ray uses high definiton format, cable and satelite television service providers use it too. The work of the home video maker does not need to be inferior in comparison,as the cameras capable of shooting the HD quality footage is now available at realistic prices which can be afforded by an average consumer.
Actually, it won't be easy to come up with any genuine reason for purchasing a new SD camera any more, despite you still having to update the remaining home entertainment system to the HD era. If any recordings are now done in HD, years from now the picture will still look stunning.
The choices are, tape, disc or card.
High Definition cameras are categorized depending on the media they utilize for information storage. Tape cassettes are still the cheaper alternative for using digital cameras. Small cameras usually use a compact memory card for recording and there are also solutions on the market that store the information on a small hard drive or even directly to a blu-ray disc.
Hdv is a consumer friendly tape format that most closely matches what the pros use, however, it is not as high quality as the commercial grade dvcopro-hd, ds-hd, or hdcam formats. The small memory card is still good enough if you want to record some of your important events in life.
The biggest disadvantage in using the dv-tapes is that the material has to be transferred to your computer in real time, as if actully viewing the tape. A three hour movie will take exactly three hours to upload to the computer for editing.
Cameras using the avchd format are much more convenient in this regard, as the video and audio material can be transferred quickly just like any other file from a USB memory stick. When you are going to edit your movie, remember to use the software that supports the avchd format. And you also need to pay attention to the formats you publish your finished movie in.
